Bangaluru International Film Festival was held on Feb 3 to Feb 9th this year . It was a super successful event . Some of the highlights of the entire festival is as follows .
Highlights of Day 1:
- The lighting of the lamp by Mr. M. Lakshminarayan and Mr. Dinesh, Registrar KCA started the day
- The daily bulletin Silver Streak : Glimpse into the Film Festival was also unveiled. Silver Streak covers the highlights of the festival so far
- Discussion with Mr Shravan Kumar, CEO of Children Film Society India (CFSI) and Prof. Raghunath of IIM B on the production and marketing of films with Mr. Vidyashankar ( Artistic director of BIFFES) as the moderator of the discussions Regular screenings for the Delegates commenced on February 3, 2017
The screenings was held at 11 screens – PVR Cinemas – ORION MALL, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru And 4 Inox Screens at Mall of Mysuru
To help spread the word and celebrate The 9th Edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (Biffes), Karnataka Tourism has taken the initiative to create excitement across the city, the first of which is, the unprecedented and first of its kind video mapping of the iconic Utility Building. This is being done for the very first time on the tallest building in the city, both to instill a sense of pride amongst residents and create excitement about Biffes.
The Utility Building video mapping started On 3rd Feb evening and was on until the 7th of February starting at dusk every evening.
9Th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) 2017 saw 6000 delegates, including daily pass holders, who participated in the fest to see the acclaimed movies.
Post successful screening and heavy bustle of six days, the teams of national and international directors along with officials have moved to the cultural capital Mysuru for the concluding ceremony to be held at Mysore Palace premises.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presided over the function. Public Works Minister Dr. H.C Mahadevappa, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait, Tourism and Information and Technology Minister Priyank M. Kharge, Mysore City Corporation Mayor M.J Ravi Kumar, MP Pratap Simha, President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Mr. Govind participated in the program.
Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Vajubhai Vala presented the awards to the winning films under Asian, Indian and Kannada competition categories. Ten awards in four sections were presented including Best Film in Kannada, Best Indian Cinema Jury Prize and the Critics’ Award and Best Movie award in the Asia section.
